Physical Exams

Physical exams are examinations or "check-ups" that are done on a regular basis to check animals for any signs of possible underlying disease or illness. Typically, these exams are done on an annual basis, but can be done more frequently depending on the health and age of your pet. Please check with our veterinarians to determine the frequency of your visits to keep your pet happy and healthy!

Preventative Medicine and Vaccinations

Preventative medicine is an important role in keeping your pet healthy and prevent illness and disease. There are many forms of preventative care that should be considered when owning a pet. The most common examples of preventative medications are; heartworm preventatives, parasite preventatives, and vaccinations.
Because each animal is unique, many of these preventative measures will vary with species, age, and health status.

Microchipping

This is an effective way to identify and recover lost pets. About the size of a grain of rice, the chip is implanted just beneath the skin between the animal's shoulder blades. The procedure is quick, similar to a standard vaccination, and is typically well-tolerated by pets without the need for anesthesia.

Each chip contains a unique identification number that can be detected by a specialized scanner. Once the chip is implanted, it is essential for the owner to register it in the manufacturer's database with their current contact information. If a lost pet is found and brought to a shelter or veterinary clinic, staff can scan the device to retrieve the ID number and search the database to reconnect the pet with its owner.
